// Privacy Policy
Your data stays with you.
Last updated: January 2026
The short version
We built FakeReviewRadar to analyze public review patterns. We don't track you, we don't sell your data, and we don't send anything to external servers. Everything happens in your browser. That's it.
What we collect
FakeReviewRadar analyzes publicly available data from Google Maps pages you visit. Here's exactly what the extension reads:
- Review data: Text, ratings, and dates from reviews on the page
- Reviewer info: Display name, review count, Local Guide status
- Place info: Business name, overall rating, review count, URL
All of this data is already publicly visible on the Google Maps page. We just analyze the patterns.
What we don't collect
This list is more important than what we do collect:
- Your name, email, or any personal information
- Your Google account credentials
- Your browsing history (we only see Google Maps pages)
- Cookies or tracking identifiers
- Location data beyond what's on the page
- Any data from other tabs or websites
Where data is stored
On your device. Only your device.
Local browser storage
Scan history (up to 50 places) and your settings are saved locally using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your browser.
Zero external servers
We don't have servers. We don't have a database. We don't have your data. All analysis happens client-side in JavaScript.
Network activity
Let's be specific: the extension makes zero external network requests.
- No API calls to external servers
- No analytics or tracking pixels
- No data uploads of any kind
- No phone-home or update checks
The only "network" activity is reading the Google Maps page that's already loaded in your browser.
How data is used
The data we read from Google Maps is used for exactly one thing:
- Pattern analysis: Detecting statistical anomalies in review timing, content, and reviewer behavior
That's it. No advertising profiles. No "business insights." No selling to third parties. Just analysis to help you make better decisions.
Permissions explained
Chrome extensions require permissions to function. Here's what we ask for and why:
| Permission | Why we need it |
|---|---|
activeTab |
Read review data from the current Google Maps page |
storage |
Save your scan history and settings locally |
scripting |
Run our analysis script on Google Maps pages |
host: google.com/maps/* |
Only activate on Google Maps (nowhere else) |
We request the minimum permissions needed. No access to all websites, no access to your browsing history.
Data retention
- Scan history: Kept until you delete it (max 50 entries)
- Settings: Kept until you change them or uninstall
- Active scan data: Cleared when you navigate away
When you uninstall the extension, all locally stored data is automatically deleted by Chrome.
Your controls
You're in charge of your data:
- Delete individual history items anytime
- Clear all scan history with one click
- Uninstall to remove all extension data
- Disable the extension temporarily without losing settings
Third-party services
None.
We don't use analytics. We don't use crash reporting. We don't use any external services whatsoever. The extension works entirely offline after installation.
Summary
- 100% client-side processing
- No data leaves your device
- No user accounts or authentication
- No third-party data sharing
- Minimal permissions (only what's needed)
- Full user control over stored data
